WASHINGTON –  Following today’s House vote to impeach Donald Trump on two counts, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, People For the American Way President Michael Keegan released the following statement:

“Today Congress has done its duty and taken a vital step toward holding Donald Trump accountable for betraying his oath of office.  As a result of his many corrupt acts, Trump enters the history books as only the third American president to be impeached, a disgrace that will forever be attached to his name.  But the process must not stop here.  The Senate must commit to a full and fair impeachment trial, which the Republican majority leader has so far refused to do.  Anything less would be a miscarriage of the justice the American people deserve.”
