Over the last two years, the Trump administration has increased its efforts to crackdown on asylum in America. Citing widespread abuse and fraud in the system, the administration narrowed asylum protections for those fleeing domestic and gang violence, an action that disproportionately affects people fleeing Central America.

VICE’s Krishna Andavolu traveled to Central America and the US southern border to see how these new policy changes are impacting the fate of thousands of asylum seekers.
