In a rare joint interview with the Squad, Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts says the current cohort of Democratic freshmen congresswomen reflects a “paradigm shift” in Washington. But, as she points out, this change did not happen overnight. “There have been women before us, women of color before us, black women before us who shook the table, who called the question, who sought justice,” says Pressley. “We are simply honoring and trying to be good stewards of the ground that they laid.” Pressley then calls for “equitable outrage” in seeking to address atrocities both inside the U.S. and outside of it.
