Millions of women around the world took to the streets Sunday to mark International Women’s Day. In cities across the world, women and girls participated in collective rallies to denounce gender-based violence and in support of women’s rights and gender equality. Protests took place across Latin America in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica and Chile, where organizers estimate over 1 million women and allies took to the streets of the capital Santiago. Thousands also demonstrated in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Spain, the U.S., Pakistan, Turkey and Iraq. On Saturday in New York City, the Mexican Collective of Independent Women led a protest and performance in honor of the thousands of femicide victims in Mexico. #InternationalWomensDay
