Fake notice attributed to Delhi police claims Rs 11,000 fine for breaking ‘Junta curfew’ on March 22

A notice that warns people of Rs 11,000 fine for roaming on the streets or opening shops on March 22 is circulating on social media in the name of Delhi police. It is noteworthy that the purported circular is being shared in the view of the ‘Junta curfew’ announced by prime minister Narendra Modi on March 22 between 7 am and 9 pm in the view of the coronavirus outbreak.

Alt News has received multiple fact-check requests for the same on its official mobile application.

Fake notice

Lack of media reports on the purported notice hints that it is fake. Alt News was also unable to locate it on Delhi police website. DCP South Delhi tweeted that the notice is fake and hasn’t been issued by them.

“We have NOT issued any such advisory on imposition of a fine on March 22. Please tell your family and friends that this is FALSE & FAKE,” reads the tweet.

Earlier, a restricted movement order issued by the Malaysian government was getting circulated as a press release by PMO India.
