Afghan Vice President Saleh 'Unharmed' In Deadly Attack On His Convoy In Kabul

A spokesman says Afghan First Vice President Amrullah Saleh escaped an apparent assassination attempt in the capital early on September 9 “unharmed,” but that at least two people were killed and three of Saleh’s bodyguards wounded.

A bomb was said to have targeted Saleh’s convoy.

“The enemies of Afghanistan have tried again today to hurt the first vice president of the presidential state,” the spokesman, Razwan Murad, wrote on Facebook.

“With the grace of Allah and the prayers of the nation, the terrorist attempt has failed, and Salih Sahib has been healed from today’s explosion in Kabul.”

Details are still emerging.

Reuters quoted Health Ministry officials as saying two bodies and seven injured had been transported to a local hospital.
