At 10-years-old, Heba has known nothing but war in Syria. Three years ago, Heba started to feel pain in her leg, but attacks on hospitals left her family with limited access to health care. The Syrian conflict, which marks 10 years this week — the same age as Heba — has affected every aspect of her life.
Eventually, Heba was diagnosed with Fibrosis and was able to receive the treatment she needed from the IRC, with support from @EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid and the Syrian Expatriate Medical Association. Now, she is able to walk, play and return to school.
Heba is our inspiration — and this is her story.
