A minute-long video is doing rounds on the social media, where Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is heard saying, despite India being a close ally, the US administration is sheltering Cockroach Janta Party(CJP)’s leadership. He is even heard requesting the US to hand CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke to India, as he is in cahoots with Pakistani and Iranian proxy groups.
The video started to circulate while Marco Rubio was on an official visit to India. CJI Surya Kant made remarks during a Supreme Court hearing in which he compared certain individuals who had entered the legal profession via fake degrees, and then taken to activism and social media, to cockroaches. The remarks were widely interpreted as targeting unemployed youth and activists more generally, though the CJI later issued a clarification. In reaction to his comment, an online movement came into existence, called the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). The movement grew rapidly and within days it garnered millions of followers, eclipsing the social media follower count of BJP across platforms. Unable to tackle the situation, the official X page of the movement was withheld in India. The founder of this movement, Abhijeet Dipke is currently based in the US. In this context, the video is being shared, where S Jaishankar is seen virtually pleading to the US to stop sheltering persons who are an inconvenience to the Indian Government.
In the viral video, Jaishankar is seen standing on a podium and heard saying, “I also have to put forward a request, some non-state actors in the United States are using America as a launch platform for Anti-India movements, the most recent being the Cockroach Janata Party. I never expected the US to host individuals like Abhijeet Dipke, who has contacts with the Iranian Ayatollah regime, and are running a campaign on their behalf. While India stayed loyal to the USA and Israel and left our relation with Iran, the US soil kept hosting the Cockroach Janata Party. I want to request honorable President Trump to hand over the incumbent leadership of Cockroach Janata Party, as they are acting as proxies for Iran and Pakistan. They should be handed over to India”.
X user ‘The Whistle Blower’ posted the video on 25 May 2026, and it has more than 50,000 views and 79 shares till date. (Archive) Fawad Hussain, a former minister in Pakistan’s PTI government, quote-tweeted the video, lending it additional amplification across the India-Pakistan information space.
Some other X users also posted the same video with similar claims, amplifying the reach of the video.

At the 30-31 second mark of the video, there is an unnatural lip sync which clearly directs towards an adulterated video. Once we became sure that this is a deepfake video, we started looking for the original video which was used to create the fake version.
In the video Jaishankar is seen reminding the US government, how ‘loyal’ they are to the Trump administration. Also Jaishankar is seen speaking from a podium, with Indian National Flags in the background. We took it as a clue, and started looking for videos where Jaishankar spoke with a foreign counterpart, in this case, an US Statesman.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited India from May 23- May 26, 2026, and he held bilateral talks with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on May 24. As the video in question was posted on May 25, it was a clue that footage from that bilateral meet could have been used to produce the deepfake. A little online search landed us onto the You Tube channel of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, which had streamed the entire bilateral session. The video is 52 minutes and 53 seconds long.
And in the almost hour long video, S Jaishankar never uttered a single word about CJP, or requesting the US Government to hand over individuals such as Abhijeet Dipke. The transcript of the session can be read here.
Furthurmore, the podium, the alignment of the Indian National flags and even the colour of Jaishankar’s shirt as seen in the deepfake matched exactly with the setup of this video.
Along with that, Press Information Bureau posted a fact check on this video on May 25 itself, where they clearly mentioned that this video is a deepfake.

In conclusion it can be said that S Jaishankar’s video from Marco Rubio’s bilateral session was doctored and a deepfake video was made where he requests the US Government to hand over Abhijeet Dipke to India.
